COVIC Training Solutions

COVIC Training Solutions are specialist providers of Conflict Management, Breakaway, Physical Intervention and Restraint Training to organisations in both the private and public sectors throughout the UK. We are also training providers for select Security Industry Authority (SIA) courses and HSE approved first aid training based in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Norfolk, Essex and Kent. Although we are based in the East Midlands, we are happy to provide training throughout the UK and Northern Ireland.

The reduction of workplace violence is our mission and we believe that is best achieved through fit for purpose training and education, creating a safe and positive environment for your service users and staff. By offering delegates peace of mind and confidence in their abilities as well as giving them effective and fit for purpose techniques to manage conflict in its many forms, potentially violent situations are more likely to be resolved peacefully with a win-win outcome.

The techniques and strategies we use and teach on our Conflict Management, Breakaway, Physical Intervention and Restraint Training courses are designed specifically to aid improved knowledge retention, ease of recall and accurate physical application, especially when they are needed the most.  By protecting people from undue injury, pain and suffering we can keep business safe. Safe from litigation and compensation claims. This saves time and money and in doing so, we can keep companies in business, people in employment and families free from unnecessary strife.

We are a Licensed centre of the National Federation for Personal Safety and can offer a number of prescribed, nationally recognised qualifications at BTEC Level 2. If a more bespoke, tailor-made Conflict Management, Breakaway, Physical Intervention or Restraint Training package is required then we can tailor training to any requirement, enabling an organisation’s compliance with their statutory obligations such as Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Criminal Law Act 1967, Care Standards Act 2000, Human Rights Act 1998, Education Act 1996, Protection of Children Act 1999 and Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 to name but a few.

Our trainers come from a varied range of professions such as Retail Management, Mental Health, Close Protection and HM Prison Service. Senior Instructor: Colin Vowles

Colin Vowles is the Training Director and Senior Instructor at COVIC Training Solutions. With many years first-hand experience in customer care and conflict management, Colin entered Her Majesty’s Prison Service as an Officer in a Juvenile Establishment, gaining valuable experience in working with children, particularly in volatile situations. Within his role as a Prison Officer, Colin became very conversant with the implementation of recognised de-escalation and conflict management strategies as well as official Breakaway, Control & Restraint and physical intervention techniques.
